The Arise and Shine piano collection presents a luminous tapestry of piano works by Black composers, designed to awaken the imagination of the performer while honoring a legacy too often overlooked. Compiled by Leah Claiborne and Ben Raznick, all the pieces are also featured in a similarly-titled album. Composers include Florence Price, Valerie Capers, Francis Johnson, Oswald Russell, Ulysses Kay, Irene Britton Smith, Nora Douglas Holt, Zenobia Perry, Kevin Day, Hale Smith, Innocent Okechukwu, and Samuel Coleridge-Taylor. Arrangements range from intermediate to early advanced levels.
